.Songs (www.dotsongs.com) is a new and unique "sound-alike" song-search engine with a vision to revolutionize the online ‘professional song placement’ market across the global music industry. We are currently running a Pilot program with one of the world's biggest music publishers and are looking to rapidly expand our song catalog through working with many other music publishers, professional songwriters and/or producers.
Location:
Can work remotely from home, but preferably located in or near London to attend occasional meetings.
Objectives and Skills Required:
Extend and refine the functionality of our website.
The main areas which are initially expected to need work on are
1) Extending the data listing pages and underlying engine for different searches, filter, grouping and ordering
2) User notifcation of events concerning them, both online (a TODO list), but also email notifications.
Some front end development will be neccessary, but only to the point of providing pages which are functionally correct for testing purposes. Other team members can handle the specifics of presentation.
The site uses PHP5, Smarty templates, MYSQL5, the Zend Framework, and Ezpdo (an object relational mapping system). Testing is done using simpletest.
PHP5 - understanding of Object Orientation is important
SQL - ideally with a knowledge of performance issues and experience in optimization
Linux + Apache
Understanding of test driven development and an ability to write good unit tests.
Experience in search technologies and/or community websites a bonus as well as an interest in music. Must have a great work ethic and thrive in a fast paced, creative, dynamic team-oriented startup environment.
To apply, please email a cover letter and resume (plain text, html, pdf) to recruitment@dotsongs.com, the subject line MUST include: "Job: PHP/SQL DEVELOPER"
