A forward thinking, fast moving, Branding & Web Agency in Northamptonshire, is seeking a dynamic, talented and pro-active Senior Web Developer with an ability to lead from the front and push projects through to launch against strict timescales.
NB: We’re looking for you to be in post by 20th June, and require all applications in by 6th June latest. (Might be flexible by a few days but no more, and ideally you could start earlier).
This small dynamic team is seeking someone to work alongside the existing Web Design Team and Creative Director, to Lead the Web Development side of all our projects. You will have worked your way up through the Web Development ranks, ideally in an Agency environment (although In-House and Freelance will be considered). You are ready for a new challenge, in an environment where you can shape processes, put forward ideas and see them come to fruition, and work alongside the business owners to influence the quality and direction of our work. You will have along the way, realised the power of WordPress and ExpressionEngine (our CMS’s of choice), and be able to show us the awesome things you’ve done with them.
Main duties & responsibilities:
· Working closely with the Web Designers and Creative Director to deliver websites / web applications / email and social media developments in accordance with the design and functional specifications
· Determining priority of calls and projects
· Analysis of issues and problem solving
· Carrying out other tasks as required
· Coordinating and communicating with other associates
· Delegating tasks as appropriate to colleagues
· Working with the Directors to shape and enhance the web development processes and checks
· Setting up and maintaining hosting environments and mailboxes for clients
· Complying with internal processes for tracking time and change requests etc
· Being responsible for one’s own workload and pro actively reporting on their progress at project reviews and client meetings
Essential Competencies:
· Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
· Proven ability to prioritise own workload and work to exacting deadlines
· Flexibility and adaptable in their approach to customer/business needs
· Experience in releasing code to live production environments
· Excellent code optimization and software design principles as well as excellent analytical skills required
· Strong team player and able to take responsibility to contribute to the overall success of the team
· Enthusiastic and structured approach to development
· Excellent problem solving abilities
· Desire to learn about new products, technologies and keep abreast of new product and technical developments
· Proven ability to conform with development/web standards
· Work well in both a team environment and independently
· The ability to write clear and concise technical documentation
· Experience in database programming
· Knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform and cross-device design and testing
· A portfolio of related work
· Fluent in English
· A minimum of two professional references testifying to the quality of your work and hinting at the above competencies
Essential Skills & Experience:
· Minimum of 3 but ideally 5 years in a similar role
Highly Proficient / Expert in:
· PHP, mySQL, xHTML, CSS (and CSS3), & JQuery
Proven experience with:
· Javascript, Intermediate PHP and MySQL
· Proven experience with creation of Custom WordPress websites and applications
· Proven experience with creation of Custom ExpressionEngine
· Proven track record in ecommerce web development and integration/customisation of popular Payment Gateways
Highly Desirable Skills & Experience:
· Office, PowerPoint & Flash
· Knowledge of XML and Ajax
· Actionscript, Fireworks
· Experience working with Flash would be beneficial
· Experience of coding custom modules and applications in PHP a big advantage
· Experience with TradingEye eCommerce platform a big advantage
· Experience with other CMS tools, such as Joomla, also an advantage (although not our preferred tool, we do sometimes have to work with it)
· Willingness to tackle server configuration problems or work with host support staff to do so
Education:
As our experience has shown that having a Degree does not the person maketh, we will consider Degree educated, apprentice and self-taught candidates, so long as they can demonstrate 100% the above competencies and skills
